Gunderson, Palmer, Nelson and Ashmore

Gunderson, Palmer, Nelson and Ashmore, LLP is one of the largest and well respected law firms in Western South Dakota. Their web site is designed to attract potential clients by demonstrating their expertise in a variety of areas of law. Visitors to the site can see not only what areas of law the firm practices, but also which lawyers practice in that field. From there, they are only a click away from being in contact with a lawyer who can bring them results.

Our Role

DakotaQ Internet Services performed the database and web programming that made the linking between attorneys and practice areas possible. We also built the control panel that allows GPNA staff to update attorney biographies, upload photos, and link attorneys to practice areas. DakotaQ Internet Services also provides hosting services for this site.

Visitors can browse over 50 areas of practice and find an attorney in that field.

Biographies allow potential clients to find the best attorney to fit their need.

The Recent News area allows the firm to announce scholarships, internships and provide public service announcements.

Their Problem

Gunderson, Palmer, Nelson and Ashmore (GPNA) needed an effective means by which they could inform potential clients and the general public about their expertise in the areas of law they practice. They wanted their site to be a means by which potential clients could easily find and contact a firm member who can help them with their case. They also wanted a site where their staff could easily update these areas of law practice and the lawyers who practice them.

Our Solution

The GPNA web site features a Practice Areas page where potential clients can browse a list of areas of law expertise. This list is dynamically generated from an SQL database which GPNA staff can easily update through a control panel. When a site visitor clicks on one of the areas of expertise, an explanation of that area of expertise is shown as well as lawyers in the firm who practice in that area of law.

A short and long biography of each lawyer in the firm on the Attorneys page allows visitors to get a better feel for the total law experience of each attorney in the firm. These biographies are stored in the SQL database which can also be easily updated by GPNA staff. Each biography includes a link that a visitor can click to submit an e-mail message to that attorney.

The Recent News and Publications pages provide a forum for public service announcements to the community. These pages feature case reviews which point out interesting aspects of law and scholarship/internship announcements.

What They Said

Our law firm has had some type of website for years and initially we contracted with a major resource for law firms for GundersonPalmer.com.The resource did a good job of developing the site but it was quite expensive and difficult to update. As a result, often our information was outdated or even incorrect. We discussed with DakotaQ about hosting and monitoring our website in 2004, since that time we have had significant access and updating capabilities for our website through numerous changes and transitions in our business and professional field. We are extremely pleased with the insight and helpfulness of the staff at DakotaQ. The major item at first for us was the significant reduction in cost but with more internet exposure. With time we have become aware of the ability to update our site on a regular basis and as needed. We have been pleased with the placement and updating of our information keeping our firm on the forefront of this important marketing aspect.
